How Long

How long should I have waited

Before I fell in love with you

How long till my heart breaks again

How long my friend

How many nights could I have wasted

Dreaming of a girl who's not like you

When will it be over again

How long till the end

CHORUS

Well I'm not the kind of guy who

Who will stand idlely by and

Watch while what he wants most in life gets swept away and

I'm not the kind of man who

Who will pretend he can do anything for love I mean I will

But for how long

How far, girl, does your love go

Is it the kind to last all time

Or will it soon come to an end

And leave my heart to mend

Now I have to be honest

I see me growing old with you

I'd get lost in your love for all time

If you would be mine

CHORUS

Bridge

I want to get lost in your sparkling eyes

I want to laugh with you forever

Pull on my heart strings even tighter now

Just make sure we can be together

How true, girl, is this feeling

The one my heart dreams of at night

If I can only see you in my dreams

I'd sleep for all my life

CHORUS

Five Minutes on the Train

Turnstile rotates once again

Is it the end of the day or just the beginning

Climb on to the crowded train

Going home again, the night is dark and still

Peer across the way

And as if by fate I see a girl

A girl who looks so sweet and pure

I swear I've seen her before, on the first day of the world

And start to imagine, a love with such passion

It takes my breath away, it takes my breath away

And I know I'd never leave her but it's the last time I'll see her

So even though she'll never be my wife, she will never know

Five minutes on the train was all it took to change my life

I can see a home

And a love that's grown, beyond my wildest dreams

Children running in the yard

Getting in the car, listening to their playful screams

I stare into her eyes

Still get butterflies every time she looks at me

Colors fading in our hair

But we don't care, all we need are our dreams

CHORUS

Bridge

Oh I can see my life go by through the window of the train

But I don't recognize it cuz I'm looking straight ahead

So much time is over and yet so much still remains

So what if I went home with her instead?

CHORUS

If A Boy

If  ever a boy could stand on the moon
What would that boy do
Would he swing from the stars
Skip stones past Jupiter and Mars
If he could stand on the moon

If he could tell the world his dreams
No matter how far out they seem
Think of the people he could change
And the minds he'd rearrange
If he could tell the world his dreams

If a boy could make is father proud
He'd live his life upon a cloud
It would be easier then
If he could please the man of man
If he could make his father proud

But for now he's grounded, waiting for some inspiration
Thinking of a way to make his dreams come true
Ever changing ever lasting world is spinning ever faster
But he knows to hold on tight

If he could live forever more
Think of the places he'd explore
No fear of death or life of fate
Mindless of prejudice and hate
If he could live forever more

If he could win her with a smile
If life was easy like a child's
He'd smile at every girl he'd see
Until he finds what's meant to be
If he could win her with a smile

And one day he will wake up to find
The life he once lived left behind
But will he like the brand new place he's in
Sitting wanting waiting wishing
Useless time with no ambition
But he knows that this is not the way for him

If he had known it was the end
What would he have done different then
Would he make sure to say goodbye
Or would he just lay down and cry
If he had known it was the end

I'll Remember April

I remember I was driving the first time the phone rang

I was on the turnpike, past the toll booth in the rain

A smile passed my lips as I picked up the phone

And I knew for the first time that I wouldn’t be alone

Hello, I sure did miss you, was all that I could say

Your voice is just the only thing that gets me through the day

That was back in spring and now in fall you’re hard to find

But every time I see you, I’ve got April on my mind

Now I know that you’ve been missing me

And you’re still the one who sets me free

And even though we’re far apart, we’re closer than ever somehow

But I’ll remember April, for now

The phone calls all have ended, and the conversation’s passed

I knew that only what I felt inside could ever last

And I see it in your eyes, but there’s no need for the fear

When we’re finally together, I’ll kiss away your tears

Now five months have passed, since I was free to speak your name

And it will be nine more before I’m allowed to feel again

But I will be here waiting, upon my heart’s return

For the one who took it from me and kept it close to her

Now I know that you’ve been missing me

And you’re still the one who sets me free

And even though were far apart, we’re closer than ever somehow

But I’ll remember April, for now

Dance Around

You’re just as you should be

On the phone, on my mind

You know nothing about me

But you don’t care, That’s just fine

We could talk for hours

And still be, just as interested to know

And when I know it’s time to leave you

I just hate, just hate to let you go

You don’t dance around the way you feel

You don’t wait for me to feel the same

And you could care less about a broken heart

Or the chance you might end up in pain

You know if you don’t use it

Your heart will just wither and die

Although your soul is a mystery

I’ll always love what’s on your mind

It seems like I just met you

And it seems like I’ve known you for years

It seems like I’ve yet to help you through

And it seems like I’ve dried all your tears

It may happen tomorrow

Or it may have happened today

Although you may not always understand

You don’t let your head get in the way

You don’t dance around the way you feel

You don’t wait for me to feel the same

And you could care less about a broken heart

Or the chance you might end up in pain

You know if you don’t use it

Your heart will just wither and die

Although your soul is a mystery

I’ll always love what’s on your mind

Nothing around me is different

And yet nothing will every be the same

Who knew the cloud that looked the purest

Could be the one to yield the most rain

So when you’re feeling weary

And it seems there is nowhere to hide

Always remember the beauty

Your heart cradles inside

You don’t dance around the way you feel

You don’t wait for me to feel the same

And you could care less about a broken heart

Or the chance you might end up in pain

You know if you don’t use it

Your heart will just wither and die

Although your soul is a mystery

I’ll always love what’s on your mind

Building You

Accidental meeting, winter’s evening

We both try to get warm

I welcome your glance, that I caught just by chance

As you silently stand by the door

Your clothing never matches, you have a style all your own

And your bag is laced with patches you sewed on at home

You reach for your book as a man reads o’r your shoulder

The words are so inviting now but will they still have meaning when you’re older

Prechorus

“So you like reading”, I think to myself

As I lock eyes with you once again

You seem to get lost in the black on the page

Each word brings you closer to the end

Chorus

I have no idea who you are

No way of knowing where you’ve been

But I’ve been building you in my head

And you’re perfect

A pen appears, from your pocket

To highlight some words that caught your eye

And in the margin you write “contradictory”

And then go on to explain why

I glance down at the bottom of the page

And see the word “Sabbath” in the corner

“So you like religion”, I think to myself

And discretely move my way towards you

Your glasses reflect the words on the page

Or possibly just translate the thoughts in your head

The letters are backwards and hard to understand

That’s why thoughts are unspoken, we think them instead

Prechorus

I hear you mutter under your breath

Possibly changed by the words you have seen

Although we will sleep in different beds

I’ll wake with the thought of you next to me

Chorus

Bridge

You have me mesmerized

Buried deep within your eyes

I can’t get my mind off you

I want to see into your soul

In Your Dreams

How long do I have to wait

To pass the tests of time and fate

So my heart can then anticipate

The love it soon will know

Warmer looks and brighter skies

Have wiped the tears from crying eyes

Still somewhere in the darkness lies

A place I long to go

Come with me

Fly away

Let my heart

Steal your pain

However far away it seems

However lost you seem to be

When you want to think of me

I’ll be waiting in your dreams

Outstretched arms and sparkling eyes

Remind me it’s ok to cry

When listening to the lullaby

That soon puts me to sleep

So I can see you in your dreams

See you in your dreams

Sometimes I wish that time could fly

So I wouldn’t force my heart to lie

When lying under April skies

Wishing June would come

We’ll realize it’s been awhile

When we first see a baby smile

And we know it’s not the only child

This love has ever known

Come with me

Fly away

Let my heart

Steal your pain
