All About Eric R. Hutchinson


Eric R. Hutchinson holds a Bachelors Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with a triple concentration in Education, Performance, and Songwriting. Mr. Hutchinson has spent several years as Director of Music Production at First Congregational Church of Vernon, CT. While there, he directed such shows as Godspell, Believer, The Musical, Joy to the World, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Children of Eden. His original Musical, Believer, went on to win two legislative citations from the State of Connecticut. In 2002, Eric was hired by East Granby Congregational Church to direct the second tour of Believer. Hutchinson has served as Director of Percussion for Rockville and Montville High Schools, Director of Jazz and Percussion for Killingly High School and is the acting Director of Jazz and Percussion at The Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT. As Director at Killingly High School, Hutchinson’s original work has been performed throughout the United States and Canada. He has shared the stage with such musical talent as Aretha Franklin, Melissa Etheridge, Wynton Marsalis, Livingston Taylor, Corey Glover, singer from 80's rock band Living Color, and Jason Bonham, son of the late John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, to name a few. in November of 2000, while still in high school, Eric competed in the Guitar Center National Drum Off where he placed in the top 5 drummers in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. On Easter 2002, Eric performed for 20,000 spectators including the President and First Lady of the United States on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C. Recently, Hutchinson has served as Director of Music for East Granby Youth Services and Artistic Director for East Granby Summer Theatre, Show Writer for Montville, Killingly, Dondero, and Bloomington High Schools, composed the film score for the 2003 movie "Disregarding Dick", and has completed three East-Coast Tours with Boston-based modern jazz quartet Four on the Floor. In addition, Eric has just completed a five-month performance collaboration with songwriter Livingston Taylor, brother of songwriter James Taylor, as he prepares to release his latest record. Eric also just finished  directing a jazz ensemble concert with jazz legend Wynton Marsalis. In fall 2006, Eric's newest company, Imagine Stage Productions, LLC,  began educating youth all over the state of Connecticut in the arts. Courantly, Hutchinson serves as Pep Band Director for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun and Professor of Music for Manchester Community College's Continuing Education Department.
